Kuwaiti Economic Student Award

To encourage Kuwaiti youth to pursue scientific research in the financial, banking , and economic fields in the State of Kuwait, the Central Bank of Kuwait launched the fifth cycle of the “Kuwaiti Economic Student Award” for students and young graduates holding bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, to motivate them to contribute to the development of banking work and support financial innovation in the State of Kuwait, in addition to shedding light on the distinguished in this field, and providing the banking and financial sectors with the most qualified young national cadres to support and develop the national economy. The first version of this award took place in 2018.

Conditions for submission

Conditions relating to applicants

  • The applicant must be a Kuwaiti citizen.‪
  • The participant’s age should not be less than 21 years and not more than 45 years old. ‪
  • ‪ The applicant must be a current (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral) student, or a holder of a degree from one of the academic levels, of a government or private academic institution in Kuwait or abroad and must provide a proof of that.
  • ‪The research can be submitted individually or jointly, and in the case of joint research, the previous conditions must be applied to each member of the team.
  • ‪The participant should not submit more than one research paper in the same year, whether the research is submitted individually or jointly.
  • Applicant who has won first place in the previous year are ineligible to apply again until one year has passed since receiving the aware

 

Conditions related to the research submitted

  • The research should be in Arabic or English language.
  • If the research is in English, an executive summary must be submitted in Arabic.
  • The research should not be published in a scientific journal.
  • The research must not have won any other award.
  • The research should meet the criteria of sober scientific research in terms of formulation, methods of conclusion, documentation, and references.
  • The research should be recent and no more than two years should have passed since its completion from the date of opening the application for the award.
  • The research should not have been submitted for consideration previously.
  • Research funded by universities is accepted for submission.

Required Documents

  • The Research paper (without the researcher(s)’ name)
  • An Arabic executive summary of the research, including (objectives, methodology, findings, and recommendations (.
  • A valid national ID.
  • A brief biography of the researchers in both Arabic and English (not exceeding five lines).
  • Academic degree or a proof of the current academic level.
  • A clear personal photo.
  • A comprehensive CV.

Awards

The following prizes are awarded to the research that is selected for the first three places:

Firstplace: a financial reward and a souvenir, and a certificate of appreciation.

Secondplace: a financial reward and a certificate of appreciation.

Third place: a financial reward and a certificate of appreciation.

In addition to the foregoing, an incentive award for outstanding research with an innovative topic is awarded, which is a souvenir and a certificate of appreciation.

This award can be withheld if the conditions do not apply to the submitted research.

  • If a joint research paper wins any prize, the award amount is divided equally among the research participants.

Research Field

  • The economic, financial, and banking fields that contribute to the development of the Kuwaiti banking sector and are directly benefited from.
  • The economic fields that contribute to finding scientific solutions to the problems, challenges, and imbalances facing the Kuwaiti economy.
  • The modern technological fields that are reshaping the Kuwaiti economy according to advanced economic models.

Arbitration

The Kuwaiti Economic Student Award Committee is responsible for managing the award’s affairs, and the accepted research papers by the committee are evaluated by three external arbitrators.

Copyright

Copyright and publishing rights of winning research papers will belong to the Institute of Banking Studies (non-exclusively), which has the right to publish them in by any appropriate means
