Kafa’a Executive Leadership Program

This program, which will be offered for the first time in 2026, is a pioneering collaboration between the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies and two world-renowned universities, Cambridge (UK) and Cornell (USA). A groundbreaking initiative, the program is designed specifically to support the development of senior leaders in the banking and finance sector in Kuwait.

About the Program

This new program is a part of the Kafa’a initiative, which was launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in September 2019. The programs included in this initiative are sponsored by the Kuwaiti banks and organized and executed by KIBS.

This program will enhance leadership abilities across three vitally important areas: self-leadership, organizational leadership and team leadership. The aim is to cultivate a new generation of executive leaders who are equipped to meet contemporary challenges in the financial landscape.

To achieve this objective, KIBS has partnered with the University of Cambridge and Cornell University to present a new executive education journey which will unfold in three phases, the first in Cambridge and the second in Kuwait. The program’s primary focus will be strategic leadership. Key leadership dimensions will be explored, including personal effectiveness, team inspiration and strategic direction.

The first phase of the journey, “Leading and Managing Self, Others and Organizations,” will be delivered in Cambridge as an in-person program by Cambridge Judge Business School from 13 to 18 April 2026. Cornell Business School will conduct the second phase, “Strategic Leadership in the Financial Sector,” as an in-person program in Kuwait from May 16 to 21, 2026.

In the first and second phases of the journey, participants will engage in dynamic academic inquiry and practical workshops, refining their strategic thinking and decision-making skills.

The third phase will be executed by The University of Cambridge who will facilitate three targeted coaching sessions in small groups during the program journey. These sessions aim to enhance self-awareness and refine participants’ approach to leadership, allowing for personalized feedback and development.

The program is designed for high-potential professionals in the banking and finance sector who are actively pursuing a path toward executive leadership. By aligning participants’ skill sets with the rapidly changing demands of the banking sector, this comprehensive program aims to empower the influential leaders who will guide organizations toward long-term success.
